Our Container Farm
Vertical Hydroponic Farm
City Greens Farm is expanding its revolutionary and innovative farm offerings – fresh, locally grown produce all grown using hydroponic methodologies in above ground growing systems using recycled and reclaimed water with little or no outdoor space. Beverly Hills Community Farm represents the environmentally sustainable, resource minimalist future of farming.
A shipping container farm can be located anywhere, as long as it can reside on flat, stable ground and has access to power and some water. This system allows farming to be done almost anywhere – from deserts to urban environments.
Our hydroponic growing model not only helps to reduce produce travel time and distances (allowing for fresher produce, reduced transportation costs and time, reduced food waste and fewer carbon emissions) but presents an exciting, innovative way to help close the gap on food deserts and reduce the number of people who go hungry or without fresh produce everyday.
We plan to expand our reach and introduce our farming and educational model in cities and communities throughout Southern California and beyond.
One of the additional benefits of growing hydroponically is the shortened growing cycle and feedback loop.
-
Dream it.
While a traditional growing season is 3-4 months, each hydroponic growing cycle is approximately 30 days.
-
Build it.
This allows us to quadruple the yield of traditional farming, while using only a small fraction (in the range of 10%) of the water needed.
-
Grow it.
This also allows us to experiment, learn and evolve as our plants speak to us. Our hydroponic methodology is truly a living, breathing science experiment and we are constantly learning from and teaching about the gifts it provides.
